Why a Before I Die Wall in Kettering?

The Kettering community has gone through huge losses recently. Not only the loss of life, but the loss of business as well. Many people are speculating that "Dayton is a dying city" without much hope. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget about what really matters. With the recent shift Kettering residents have endured, it requires reflection.

Regularly contemplating death is a powerful tool to restore perspective and remind us of the things that make our lives meaningful. With more ways to share in public space, the people around us can not only help us make better place, they can help us become our best selves. Our hope is through this project, people can see that they aren't alone in their time of loss as they try to make sense of their lives. This project gives the opportunity to break down barriers and bring a community together.
